We celebrate five years TEAL

„Celebrate the good times…“

…and we will. We are celebrating five years of TEAL with our team this month. Five years packed with constantly evolving know-how in customer work, internal projects and continuous growth of the company. With a steady growing team and great customer projects, we have embarked on a successful and exciting journey over the past months and years.

We would like to take our birthday as an opportunity to say a big thank you to our customers and our colleagues who motivate us day after day and week after week to deliver top performance.

“Our success story, as we can tell it after the last years, is only possible if you can count on the whole team that stands behind our projects, products and company philosophy!”, says one of the three founders and managing directors, Fabian Böhm.

How it started

Our three founders and managing directors of TEAL, Alexander Schmitt, Fabian Böhm and Manuel Hoffmann, started their career together at a leading provider of digital services as well as business and cloud solutions in the IT sector. After about a decade, the desire to found their own highly specialized company in the field of cybersecurity and to address the growing challenges of customers in this area has matured more and more. The detailed focus was to be on security services in the Microsoft area.

After months of planning in 2016, TEAL Technology Consulting GmbH was officially founded in February 2017. Shortly thereafter, the first project followed at an international insurance group with 40,000 employees, whereby a new authentication platform was set up based on the ESAE model.

At the end of 2017, the first employee was taken on board and the journey began…

With the year 2018, the customer-specific portfolio was further sharpened and the core philosophy of the company was further developed. This then gradually gave rise to our blog on our website, where we bring IT security-related topics closer to interested parties and potential customers. In 2019, the focus turned to expanding our product portfolio. Over the course of 2020, we made ourselves less dependent on individual, large key accounts and were able to support several customers in parallel thanks to our expanded team. In addition, we developed our first own products, such as our Security Assessment. But also Corona showed itself for the first time this year and lockdowns and the challenge of remote work followed. Nevertheless, the last two were our strongest growth years of our company, which is also reflected in the numbers of our team members:

Consulting and IT security concepts must be thought through further

The still present Corona pandemic has changed many things. Home office and remote work are now more than ever associated with the modern working world, and each company must decide for itself how to live this new reality and reconcile it with its values.

We, too, faced difficult challenges in dealing with the new situation and finding a perfect middle ground for the team and the customers. And we did. As we said in our blog article on “Growing cyber security company is hiring: IT consulting with travel benefit” briefly touched upon, we dared to adapt our company structure to the given conditions and move with the changing times. As a result, we can now offer our entire team the ability to work from anywhere at any time and communicate with clients via collaboration tools. This is a very valuable bonus for the work-life balance of our colleagues, which is also contractually fixed in our company.

After two years without our beloved hackathons and team events, we finally managed to meet physically again last October and hosted a three-day team event in Heidelberg. What came out of it? Not only was the personal contact between the teammates strengthened, but our portfolio in terms of managed services and internal company structure was further developed. This also resulted in our roadmap for the coming years.

Our roadmap for 2022 and 2023 at a glance

    • Continuous development of the offered managed services and products (TEAL Security Check & Assessment, TEAL Audit Proof, Enforce Suite and BloodHound Enterprise)
    • Further growth of our team in the areas of IT Consulting Active Directory, Product Engineer and Cloud Security
    • Continuation of our trainee program to discover the IT security specialists of tomorrow and to support them in their development.

We are also addressing several issues this year through the cooperation with our new partners from SpecterOps and the BloodHound Enterprise solution they have developed. The BloodHound Enterprise product solution will massively increase infrastructure security. There will be more detailed info on this in the next weeks.

We are looking forward to the next years with our team, our customers and many exciting projects.
